Schedule & FLSA: Full Time, Hourly
Shift: First Shift 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Reports to: Head of Hardware

About the Role

As a Mechanical CNC Machinist/Technician at Torus, you will be responsible for producing parts, building, troubleshooting, and creating FESS (Flywheel Energy Storage System) and BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) to better our world.

Responsibilities

  • Machine custom components for prototype and early production builds.
  • Hands on assembly and disassembly of Flywheels and Commercial Battery Storage products.
  • Work with manufacturing and service teams to produce and build custom fixtures for assembly or repair.
  • Work closely with the engineering team to accelerate the pace of design.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Experience

  • High School Diploma/equivalent and 2-10+ years of CNC machining experience.
  • A passion and track record of building/assembling/servicing/troubleshooting mechanical systems.
  • Experience working with test equipment and precision measurement equipment.
  • Experience working to timelines and communicating with the team.
  • Hands on problem solver and self-starter.

Preferred Experience

  • Electrical training and/or experience.
  • Hands on building and fabricating are preferred.
  • Strengths in CAD/CAM, Solidworks, sheet metal, tube laser, and steel structures.

Physical Requirements

  • Must have the ability to safely lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. 
  • Must be capable of standing, bending, and executing repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to read, identify, observe and recognize details, color-coding and fine print at close range on associated engineering drawings.
  • Ability to don personal protective equipment to include, but not limited to, respiratory protective equipment with proper seal, coveralls, ear protection, gloves, eye protection & safety helmet. 
  • Ability to operate forklifts, overhead cranes and climb ladders.
  • Ability to observe, detect and respond to audible and visual machine malfunction warnings.
  • Ability to communicate information so others can understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Must report to work with the ability to use full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute your job.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English required.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work on multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Experience High School Diploma/Equivalent and 2-10+ years of related experience.
Location This position works in an air-conditioned warehouse/manufacturing and cleanroom environments. A break area is available with refrigerator access, microwave, coffee maker, and drink/snack machines.
Schedule Full-Time + Hourly
Compensation $20-28/hour DOE (Note: We have the flexibility to hire at different levels, which may impact the  corresponding pay range.)
