Location: Onsite - South Salt Lake, Utah (84119)
Schedule & FLSA: Full Time, Hourly
Shift: First Shift 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Reports to: Production Manager
About the Role
Responsibilities
- Work in a shop environment safely with zero accidents and/or injuries.
- Set-up and operate CNC Vertical Turret Lathes.
- Read CNC programs, familiar with G & M codes.
- Make edits to CNC programs to maximize efficiency and reduce error.
- Read and interpret engineering and production drawings.
- Understand and apply geometric tolerances.
- Set up machines according to job specifications, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in production.
- Monitor machine performance, make necessary adjustments, and troubleshoot issues to ensure smooth operation.
- Set up and safely use various inspection tools and gauges (i.e. inner diameter (I/D) & outer diameter (O/D) Mics, calipers, Pi-tape, bore gauges, Tri-mics, thread gages, etc...).
- Machine to required tolerances of .0005” - .005”.
- Determine optimal machining feeds and speeds and tool selections.
- Design fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
- Inspect finished products for quality, making adjustments as needed to meet production standards.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment.
- Operate and maintain other CNC machines, press brakes, and laser cutting machines as required.
- Work effectively with teams to ensure successful delivery to customers.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to achieve production goals and deadlines.
- Other duties as required.
Required Experience
- 2-5+ years of experience as a Machine Operator, preferably with expertise in operating VTL CNC machines.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in related fields are a plus.
- Proficient in machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Basic understanding of machine maintenance procedures.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently under minimal supervision.
Preferred Experience
- Active OSHA compliant Forklift Certification is a plus.
- Technical certifications or vocational training in electrical or mechanical disciplines is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Must have the ability to safely lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must be capable of standing, bending, and executing repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to read, identify, observe and recognize details, color-coding and fine print at close range on associated engineering drawings.
- Ability to don personal protective equipment to include, but not limited to, respiratory protective equipment with proper seal, coveralls, ear protection, gloves, eye protection & safety helmet.
- Ability to operate forklifts, overhead cranes and climb ladders.
- Ability to observe, detect and respond to audible and visual machine malfunction warnings.
- Ability to communicate information so others can understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Must report to work with the ability to use full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute your job.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English required.
