By Rebecca McOmber, Chief People Officer at Torus
Last September, we announced a commitment to create 172 new high-paying jobs in Salt Lake County over the next decade. Today, we're excited to share an update on our progress toward this ambitious goal.
Our 100-Day Hiring Sprint
As part of our commitment to economic growth in Utah, we've set an aggressive 100-day hiring goal to bring 38 net new employees on board. We're pleased to report that we're already 21% of the way toward this target, having welcomed 8 new team members since January, including:
- 2 Product Marketing Managers
- R&D Support
- Various Manufacturing and Operations roles
- A People Operations Partner
These new hires represent just the beginning of our growth journey, with several additional team members scheduled to start next month.
Manufacturing and Hardware: Our Hiring Priority
In alignment with our mission to strengthen American manufacturing and energy innovation, our current hiring focus is heavily weighted toward manufacturing and hardware roles. In fact, 55% of our current 100-day hiring goal is dedicated to manufacturing positions.
Currently, we have 12 open roles listed on our website, with our Manufacturing Technician position alone accounting for 8 openings. In total, we're actively hiring for 20 positions, with more to come as we continue building toward our long-term commitment of 172 high-paying jobs.

Investing in Local Talent
As we pledged in our announcement last September, Torus is deeply committed to investing in Utah's workforce and economy. To support this mission, we've been developing strong relationships with local educational institutions and staffing agencies:
- We've established partnerships with local technical schools and universities
- Our team participated in the U of U STEM Fair and Ogden Tech Fair this January
- We recently hosted the entire BYU Engineering department for an on-site tour, taking advantage of their specialized Power Electronics classes in their Electrical Engineering program
- We're inviting top students from Mountainland Technical College, Ogden-Weber Technical College, and Davis Tech to visit our facilities
- We've enlisted a leading staffing agency to help us connect with the best local talent
These partnerships are already proving valuable, with educational institutions excited about the career pathways we can offer their students in renewable energy storage and management.
Maintaining Our Standards
As we scale rapidly, we remain committed to our promise of creating high-quality jobs that pay at least 110% of the Salt Lake County average wage. Our recruiting team is working diligently to identify exceptional candidates who align with our mission of making renewable energy storage and management more efficient, affordable, and sustainable.

Safety First
With our growing team comes an increased focus on workplace safety. We've recently hired a new director of safety and have completed updated training for our Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements for our manufacturing, warehouse, and R&D facilities. These improvements underscore our commitment to maintaining the highest standards in our American manufacturing facilities.
Join Our Mission
If you know talented individuals who might be a good fit for our team, particularly in manufacturing and hardware roles, please send them our way! As Mayor Cherie Wood noted in our September announcement, Torus is building economic vitality in South Salt Lake, and we're proud to be creating quality employment opportunities for local residents.
We're excited about the progress we've made so far and remain committed to our long-term goals of job creation and economic development in Utah. Together, we're building a more sustainable and resilient energy future.
